Test 1: Stain/Color
- Wash and dry hand(s) completely
- Apply the three different types of lipsticks side by side on the top of the hand
- Let it sit for five minutes
- After waiting, go the the sink and run slightly warm water over your hand for about one minute. DO NOT RUB YET.
- Once rinsed under plain water, record observations then wash hand again using regular hand soap and moderate scrubbing for one minute.
- Record observations and color stains.
Test 2: Spreadability
- Scoop equal chunks of each lipstick onto a piece of parchment paper
- Using a popsicle stick, see how far you can spread each of the lipsticks across the paper
- Compare and measure lengths
Test 3: Moisture Levels
- Measure approximately one centimeter of each lipstick and cut it out.
- Place each chunk in the center of a piece of paper
- Use a Popsicle stick to slightly smush it down and create a circle
- Either lay on flat surface or hang up and let sit for 2-3 days
- There should be an oil ring around the original clump of lipstick, measure the diameter of oil circle.
Test 4: Smoothness
- Cut small, equal pieces of each lipstick
- Place on paper and spread it out
- Compare textures, viscosity, and clumps. Record observations
- Also, apply a lipstick to your lips and wait 20 minutes then kiss a clean piece of paper. Repeat for each lipstick
- Compare texture of lips to kiss imprint. Record observations.
Test 5: Long Lasting
- Wash and dry hand(s) completely
- Apply the three different types of lipsticks side by side on the top of the hand
- Let it sit for five minutes
- After waiting, go the the sink and run slightly warm water over your hand for about one minute. DO NOT RUB YET.
- Once rinsed under plain water, record observations then wash hand again using regular hand soap and moderate scrubbing for one minute.
- Record observations and color stains.
