Stewardship Design contest
In our STEM/Design class we focused a lot on creating beautiful work and innovative thinking. High Tech High Point Loma was going to have a stewardship conference where people all over Southern California could go and learn how to safely and effectively dispose of school waste and protect the environment. Mr. Sevilla told us how they were having a contest for the logo that would be on all the tote bags every person would receive at the conference. In partners and as individuals, we created two color logos that represented environmental awareness and submitted them hoping to be chosen.
To the left, are my original ideas and brainstorm of logos. I really liked the water drop on the left with the plants growing out of the water. It started as a doodle but after a couple drafts it turned into my final design.
One of the most challenging parts of designing the logo was creating the water droplet. I used an image off the internet then edited it to be only 2 colors, black and white. The original image had many colors and tones and to make it just black and white required a lot of hand painting the colors on photoshop. Once the droplet was done, the rest of the logo was fairly easy to make on photoshop. |
Instead of using a grass/shrubbery plant like in the original doodle, I decided to use a daisy. It was easier to identify and looked great in black and white. I used one file to edit so I do not really have multiple visual drafts. Here is the final design I created and submitted for the contest.
