Romeo and juliet reinvention
Recently in class we completed the project, Romeo and Juliet reinvented. For this project we rewrote and redirected the classic play Romeo and Juliet. We studied different world conflicts and place Romeo and Juliet in them. In Physics we studied the technology of weapons and how that same technology was later used for good. I worked with Bonnie, Josh, and Doug. Our groups conflict was the Israeli Palestinian conflict. I really enjoyed working with them. We did a good job giving each other feedback and critique. We also did an excellent job of helping one another build and make our products. We all showcased our strengths very well. In Humanities we displayed a lot of work. We made costume sketches, light collages, CD's with our play's music on it, mini models of weapons and the transformation of the weapon. I learned an abundance of new information. I really enjoyed learning about a world situation that is going on today. It is very easy to forget what other people are experiencing and living through. I found it fascinating to learn what is happening over seas. I also did extensive research on gas turbine engines for my transformation. One struggle my group and I faced was keeping on track with all the revisions. We received a lot of critique from everyone and had to do multiple drafts and it was difficult to revise them quickly. However, we were able to overcome this challenge by managing our time well and distributing the work evenly so everyone was working on something. Learning to use our time wisely dramatically effected our final outcome and was very valuable to our success. I think we could of worked on planning a little bit better. We often just immediately started working when class started and didn't take enough time to plan out what we needed to have done by when. On exhibition night it was hard to hold on to people's attention because all we did was talk the whole time. I wish it could have been more interactive. Studying Romeo and Juliet was very interesting to me. We hadn't studied Shakespeare before and I really liked it. I really liked studying play production as well and seeing The Last Goodbye play at the Old Globe Theater. I will always remember that play. That play really inspired me to think big and outside the box. I loved the set and the music and the originality of it. That play reminds me to be original. I wish we could have studied other text from the Shakespearian time era. I also found the Physics portion very intriguing. I learned that there is always good that can come from evil. I really enjoyed studied the transformations of evil to good. I wish we could have studied more weapons than just our own. I would have liked to explore a wider variety of tools and weapons. Good when acts are done to help people other than themselves. Evil is done to harm or hurt someone or something. Good and evil are commonly viewed as opposites but often times they intertwine. Man is going to repeat history because we only view situations from one perspective and are unable to comprehend the problem. Overall this project was very interesting and I feel I grew a lot as a student and a person.
